Plein Air this Summer

Plein Air Landscape Paintings

Cylburn Arboreteum was a delightful ,sunny and warm mid-morning location for this study which took about 90 minutes to complete. The major challenge was painting quickly before the sun’s reflections moved or changed completely.

Western Run field study, completed in about an hour, was also a challenge because of the hot and humid conditions. The horse grazing pasture was absolutely brilliant in the hazy sun.

From a different Western Run vantage point on the same property as above, the lazy river/stream study was compelling with the distant haze and water reflections.

It is always fun being out with a bunch of oil painters on a beautiful day, painting beautiful landscapes.

Besides the landscape oil paintings done plein air above, other places I have painted this summer include Shawan Downs, Harford County,

Mantua Mill Road and Baltimore County, Maryland sites.

This week I am headed to the Museum of Industry in Baltimore City.
